3D Art - Week 15

Final Pass Environment 

Created the alpha for the flower and then brought it into UE4, along with creating a blueprint actor for the flower string piece, and then placed into the scene. I learned a lot in this project specifically because my goal is to specify in creating environments. I was excited  to also learn about particle mesh effect for my scene and seeing it all come together.

Environment

This week I finished re-topology of my tree, and then baked it in Substance Painter. I also started on creating a sunset scene in Unreal for the background and playing with the lighting for ambiance, as well as placing meshes.

Vampyres in Space

This week I repoly'd the bone piece, baked it and textured it. I took the columns that were modeled by Catherine and textured it, and added an organic spread for the veiny material. 












































Then I placed the columns and the vaults, along with the bone pieces into the Unreal scene.

Environment Project - Tree

I chose the cherry blossom tree in a Japanese spring setting on a hill with a stylized look from Heroes of the Storm with a Lord of the Rings Elves' world vibe. There will be lush green grass and foliage along the sides and a canopy trail of trees up the hill leading to the main tree.


First, I started modeling the rock set in Maya: the large, medium and small sizes.The large....

Next, I started the tree sculpt with ZSpheres in Zbrush. 

Then, I began sculpting the environment in Unreal with the Landscape tool.

Medium Complex Character PT3

This week I had to re-do topology in Maya for Sammy. Once this Game res was ready, I had to create the Uv's.

Then I baked the hi res sculpted model from Zbrush with the game res model in Substance Painter and began painting, separating each section of colors and using a variety of soft and hardened brushes depending on the edges. Here's Sammy Starfishy...

2D Art - Week 12

Round 3 - Color Pass

This week I reworked the illustrations for the columns in the throne area to include the new elements of original cathedral columns. This option would now have the "Gigor-esc" bone instead, as a growth in random areas along with veiny organic organisms and live alien organisms inside a jelly substance within the columns. This will match our selected color palette. 

The other columns within the area will contain the same description as the throne room columns, except for the live alien organisms.

Also, the panoramic glass wall has been changed in the background, and will have vaults, along with stained glass windows that will replace the placeholder areas of burgundy overlay.

Medium Complex Character PT2

This week I had to resurface Sammy to match the look of the original reference better. This is my final Sammy...







































Then I created a custom brush for the circular suckers on the back of him and loaded it to my brushes.


 


Then, I applied the brush for his back and some of the sides. Here are the views:







Next, I learned how to polypaint, and choosing different methods to affect the brushes. Here's my little Sammy :) This was fun!

I'm working on the Game play scene and incorporating some of the influence of Gigor art with bones in the flying buttresses of the Throne room. Also, I'm adding some fleshy veins to imply an organic live organism throughout this ship.

We referenced the art of H.R. Gigor and the Scorn video game.

I've created an Environment Mood board, displaying the shape language that we're going for with Gigor's darker tones, mysterious and foggy settings that are created. Along with sharp, realistic lines.


I created the following silohuettes that translate some of the shape language from the exterior environment in this world, along with some ideas for the spaceships.
